Zorbing in London / Sphering in London

Zorbing (or Sphering) is a fun recreational activity which consists of rolling downhill inside a large sphere (or orb), that is usually made out of transparent plastic. Zorbing is usually done downhill, on a slight slope, however sometimes people use flat surfaces to allow for more control and at their longest, runs can last for up to half a mile. When there are no hills around, Zorbing enthusiasts sometimes construct small ramps so that the sphere can get started. These ramps can be inflatable, wooden or even made of metal. There are just two main types of orbs; there are ones that are harnesses, and non-harnessed orbs. The ones without harnesses can hold up to three riders at a time, but only two people can ride in a harnessed orb. However, because harnessed orbs are safer, they can allow for steeper hills for real thrill seekers. In addition, there are ‘eclipse’ orbs that are essentially the same as any other except that the plastic is blacked out, thereby increasing the disorientation for the riders.
